On the Move

Hello all!

I meant to be more active on this blog during the move, documenting the stresses and interesting times. But that hasn’t been the way it has turned out. With everything being so rush and stress, this move has really taken its toll on my health. I have to keep up with things for a few more days until we’re moved in, but that’s all I can really do at the moment.

I am getting a rare break at the moment, though. We decided to drive up and stay overnight so we can do the final inspection bright and early in the morning, sign the papers and still have time to drive home and finish up the packing. I am relaxing in the hotel room as I write this, trying not to think about the massive to-do list we still have.

I am so, so happy we have hired movers. I would be in complete meltdown mode by now if we hadn’t.

The physical move will be happening Thursday, so everything is coming up quick. I will be so happy when we are finally settled in already. I haven’t really had time to think about what I will miss about being so close to Melbourne the most, but I don’t really need to. It’s just a drive or a train ride away, so I know I can visit.

In the midst of all this, I am still managing to get some editing done every now and then (mostly when we’re eating) so I’m thinking the move won’t be too detrimental to my ‘shopping out the manuscript by March’ deadline.

But all that does add up to me probably not blogging until at least next week. I just don’t have the brain power for much right now.

Until then…

Want to Guest Post?

Rather than leave the blog to get dusty while I’m packing/stressing/moving/stressing/unpacking, I want to invite anyone who is interested to guest blog here. Common sense rules apply and all that good stuff. I’m looking to have guests the first two weeks of February (thus, getting guest posts to me next week).

If you’re interested, leave me a comment or just go ahead and send me your 250 – 500 word guest post(s) with links to your blog(s) to jmfictionscribe at yahoo.com.au

Thanks!

Queensland Flood Victims

As you may have heard, the state of Queensland in Australia has experienced severe flooding over the past few weeks, sending nearly the entire state into disaster. 75% of Queensland has been declared a disaster zone. What is happening is heartbreaking and terrifying as more rain is forecasted.
The Queensland government has set up a Flood Relief Appeal and the RSPCA is collecting for the animal victims of the flood. If you are able, please think about giving.

There is also some flooding in New South Wales and Victoria, and Western Australia is dealing with fires. Australia is not doing well at the moment.

Please give, be it your thoughts, prayers, time or monetary donations. It all counts.

Moving On Up

I am very happy to say that my appointment to get my sunspot removed from my thumb has been moved up… to tomorrow morning! That almost never happens, but it makes me so glad I asked. Thinking about sitting here watching this spot change for another two weeks and some was getting on my nerves. I’m happy to get it taken care of, even if it means getting up earlier than the norm to do so.

This does mean that my typing will be slower (possibly non-existent tomorrow) going off trying to type without my thumb as I type this post, so I’m doing the best that I can to get ahead on work so I can then get ahead on NaNoWriMo. Crossing fingers I actually do so.

And crossing fingers (except my thumb, of course) that everything goes well tomorrow morning.

How is everyone else going?

Sick

I’ve been struck down by a plague of… miniature proportions. Even so, I’m running behind and still recovering.

This is why you set a minimum word goal and always go above it. It gives you fudge room to keep on schedule even when life happens.

NaNo Note

Yeah, I’ve decided to be a little crazy and join up with NaNoWriMo this year. I’ve never ‘won’ NaNo before, but it’s always a lot of fun and you get to meet fun people. Plus, it’s always a good way to get a start on a project.

I’m right here, so friend me. :)

Also, you may have noticed my WIP wordcount tracker in the sidebar there… If you’re self-hosting wordpress, just look up the plugin named ‘progpress’, install it and then check out this site for how to use it. (It’s simple.)

Guest Posts

I am still open to hosting guest posts if anyone cares to email me one or more. It should be on topic (writing) with as few swears as you can manage, but otherwise, I am pretty flexible.

My guest post needs:

*Provide a title
*250 – 500 words on pretty much anything writing related
*Short bio including your website link
