*Headdesk*

So guess who forgot something really important that will influence being able to type this month?

That’s right. Me.

I have this little spot on my thumb that I’m getting removed on the 26th. And, seeing as it’s on my thumb (and has gotten bigger since I took that photo), I’ll have limited to no use of my thumb until it heals.

Talk about slowing down my typing speed.

Like I said, it’s gotten bigger and there is a funkiness to it that the photo doesn’t show, which is why it’s so important for me to get it removed and biopsied. (Skin cancer is the most common cancer in Australia.) So I don’t regret the appointment and I certainly won’t move it to later just for NaNoWriMo. However, it does make the fun added pressure of losing five days (the appointment is in the morning, so I don’t even get the 26th) from an already tight schedule.

Good thing I don’t cry when I don’t ‘win’, eh?

So how is everyone else faring?

Is NaNoWriMo. Is Crazy.

The non-Australians might not get the reference in the title. There is a company over here whose slogan is “Is Don. Is Good.”

So now you know.

NaNoWriMo started wonderfully. I love all the NaNo tweets and blog posts, everyone being so excited about the event. This is the fun part where the enthusiasm is still running and

As you can see, I’m quite woefully behind already, which is saying a lot for only being on day two. The thing is that I’m trying to work on NaNoWriMo aka “Doomed to Repeat It” in the morning before work (which isn’t a large time slot because I luvs me some deep sleep) and I’m continuing on with Echo Falls at night, which is when I’ve been writing it for the past couple of weeks. Yesterday, I got a massive 206 words done in Doomed to Repeat It before getting sucked into work. Last night, I also managed to get just a smidgen under 2000 words done in Echo Falls.

So it’s entirely likely that I won’t get my NaNoWriMo project done, no matter how much I am in love with my sulky main character. But I won’t feel like a failure because I have no doubt I’ll get 50,000 words written in November.

It all works out in the end!

On another note, I found this pretty massive list of bloggers who are also in NaNoWriMo, so if you’d like to make some more friends, be sure to check it out!

And They’re Off!

Best of luck and speed of typing to everyone participating in NaNoWriMo!

I stayed up until midnight just because I could and slammed in a huge 206 words (haha). But the day is not over, and at least I have a title: Doomed to Repeat It

How are you going?

NaNo Note

Yeah, I’ve decided to be a little crazy and join up with NaNoWriMo this year. I’ve never ‘won’ NaNo before, but it’s always a lot of fun and you get to meet fun people. Plus, it’s always a good way to get a start on a project.

I’m right here, so friend me. :)

Also, you may have noticed my WIP wordcount tracker in the sidebar there… If you’re self-hosting wordpress, just look up the plugin named ‘progpress’, install it and then check out this site for how to use it. (It’s simple.)

NaNoNotSoMuch

Another November, another NaNoWriMo that has flown passed without me getting to that 50k line…

As per usual, I got off to a decent start before life set in. This year’s version of ‘life’ included a lovely holiday, an annoying as heck back problem that makes it hard to sit for any decent length of time, emotional upheaval… Yada yada. I’m sure you don’t really care about my reasons because I’m getting bored just listing them.

As always, NaNo has provided me something I needed. This time, it was the need to learn that I can make myself sit down and write.

Call it a block, call it ‘issues to work through’, but I have not finished a book in a long time. I wrote one ebook, which proved to me that I could write something and finish it… But as for fiction? Well, I have yet to see something to its completion since I moved to Australia.

There it is: the sad but true fact that I have had ‘writing issues’ for just over three years now.

Yet, there is a light at the end of this abysmal tunnel. I attempted NaNoWriMo. I like the story idea. I like it so much that I think this could be it. No, this will be it. This will be the first completed novel I’ve written in my new life.

Because I say so, darn it.

Yes, I am incredibly behind.

NaNoWriMo

Of course, about 8.30pm on the first day of NaNo, I decided I would join. HA.

I did get to about 1700 words, which is a good start. I’m not stressing about it, though, because I do have a vacation coming up next week which will likely put me so far behind that this will be another year I don’t get it done by the deadline.

But it is too fun to resist joining up.

NaNoWriMo is coming. Are you ready…?

(I’m still undecided about whether or not I’m going to join. As always, I probably won’t decide until November 1st around midafternoon.)

Countdown to NaNoWriMo

inkI just realized that NaNoWriMo will be starting on a Sunday. I like that; I think it will help a lot of people to be able to get things rolling on a weekend rather than trying to start in the traditional work week. Will that help more people finish?

No idea.

There is just over two weeks to go and I’m still not decided on whether or not I will be participating. I have been playing with the idea of posting what I write here and allowing people to unleash their plot ninjas on my story, but I would hate to have something come up and not be able to complete it. Plus there is always the time factor, not to mention that would end up being a lot of long posts people would have to trudge through.

While I deliberate about my participation and whatnot, I’m wondering what would be of most benefit to you the readers? Would you like a daily/weekly check in? A place to relax? Or would you like something more along the lines of random plot twists or other types of inspiration?

I like the idea of having weekly NaNo breaks, but if there is something you would like better…

I’m not lacking for ideas, by any means; I am just indecisive. (A wonderful thing to be with less than a month to go…)

NaNoWriMo Already?

As per usual, it appears that other people are thinking about NaNoWriMo long before I am. It’s only August!

Even so, I’ve been noticing an increasing amount of posts on the subject…

I wasn’t able to join last year due to time constraints, but this year looks as if I might have a decent amount of time available for doing it. This is the first I’ve thought about it, though.

Are you thinking about NaNoWriMo already?
